Still Searching For A Job? Try Tweeting About It...

Gradating from college during the past few years has been extremely scary lately, due to the lack of jobs available. Although it seems like jobs are starting to become more available depending on what field you're in, it's been a hard year for most of my friends who are recent graduates and most haven't been able to find much.

My suggestion to all of them has always been to use social media to find something, network with others and to make some great connections, but most of them look at me like I'm crazy...which I'm not. While we only learned about Facebook and the ramifications it could potentially have on us and our careers, no one ever talked about the plethora of other social media sites we should have known about or started looking into.

Linked In, MeetUp and even Twitter can result in some great leads to a job and show employers that you're actively searching for a job. I know that showing up to restaurants or events without knowing anyone can be terrifying, but I guarantee if you try hard enough you can walk away with a few new acquaintances who you can e-mail, keep in contact with and potentially get a job with. Try it and see what happens.

No Job Is Beneath You...

This is a great mantra for those of us who are newly graduated, searching for a new career, or currently unemployed... I have recently come across a few blogs and recent articles discussing the fact that graduates or other young adults are upset by the jobs they are being offered, if they are offered any at all. They think working at a McDonald's is beneath them, even though it's the ONLY thing available.

I hope to never be this way, because you never know when a new opportunity will come knocking on the door while you are working at McDonald's, or at a "crummy" entry level position. Everyone has to start somewhere, and if you do your best at any job, whatever it may be... people notice. They notice your attitude, your hard work and your drive, and it always pays off, not matter how long it takes.

So if you get a job, any job, you should be thankful and try your hardest at it. Eventually the tides will turn, and if you have the right attitude, ideas, and help others out, people will notice and you never know where you might end up.

Fear melts when you take action towards a goal you really want. Robert G Allen

I'm currently working on figuring out what I want to do with my life. I'm currently searching for a new full time job, and since I have limited experience (mostly with social media work) the jobs are harder to come by.

I know that finding another social media position that's full-time would be a great option, because social media is super hot right now, and every business wants to (needs to really) get into it. The must successful companies dove right into it, tried out different strategies and use social media to it's fullest advantage.

Another hot trend/topic right now is mobile health. The mobile health business will be worth over $1 billion in 2014... Meaning that it's definitely not going away and it's here to stay. More doctors, health practitioners and patients are embracing mobile and wireless health, in the US, Europe and even places such as Africa. Health is on the tips of our fingers thanks to smartphones, iPhone applications, EMRS, and the newest inventions like the iPad. I definitely want to keep my eye on this sector, and try to jump in if anything ever opens up.

I have a vast network available thanks to family, friends, and acquaintance I've met over the years, but there are big decisions I need to make on which way I would like to go. I've read articles discussing the fact that the younger generations don't just stick with one career for the rest of their life, so I know that whatever job I choose is just opening many other doors later on in life. Right now the biggest decision is between working for advertising agencies in Chicago/NY/San Francisco, or chasing a dream and finding work in Spain.
